Once again I would like to apologize for my lack of posting to the site. I have been so busy with school and work! I didn’t think that the work in my program would take up as much time as it has been. Somethings take less time for me because its stuff I’ve known how to do for quite a while. Other things are just very tedious and take a long time no matter how much experience I have.

On top of that I am also working a part-time job which is taking up the rest of my time. Hopefully, I’ll be able to do some updating during my Christmas break, which is coming up really soon. I have 8 days of classes left! Excluding the weekend. I will be travelling a bit during the time I have off but hopefully I’ll be able to post some new stuff to the site.

I haven’t been completely neglecting my whole Jake Epstein fan world though. Some of you may have noticed that I have been posting, somewhat regularly, on Twitter. So I’m going to say, for more up to date info and media stuff (primarily Spring Awakening related) you should follow the site’s Twitter page: twitter.com/JakeEpstein_net. (If you want to be stalker-ish and follow me personally, I’m at twitter.com/andKeira) Like, I said, I post fairly often on Twitter because it’s short and quick and takes less effort than posting here. I have posted a bunch of links from YouTube when I come across any videos of Jake (most of which are from the Spring Awakening YouTube page) I post them immediately after I find them. They are linked from our YouTube page (youtube.com/jakeepsteinnet) as well in favourites and in playlists, so you can always find them.

Anyways, sorry, my brain is a little scattered right now. I think I covered everything. Now I have a math assignment to finish! Yay.

Tomorrow is December! I haven’t seen much for snow yet this year. I’m totally ok with that! lol But happy December everyone. I’ll try to update again soon, I promise.

Hi Jake,

First of all, I just want to say that you are one of my favourite actors! I’ve been a fan since the first time I saw you on The Zack Files, as Cam Dunleavey. It was one of my favourite shows on YTV back then. So of course I was extremely excited when I found out you were joining the cast of Degrassi, because I was already a fan of the show from the first season. I would love to see you in Spring Awakening but the show isn’t  coming anywhere near where I live.

So, on with the questions!

In television, usually (if you exclude soap operas lol) when someone joins the cast of a show after it has been on for a while, they’re playing a new character, like you did as Craig in season 2 of Degrassi. But in large theatre productions, like Spring Awakening, it tends to be different, obviously. When you joined the cast of Spring Awakening you were taking over a character that had previously been played by some very talented actors. Even though most of the audience seeing you in the role may not have seen the previous actors’ take on the character of Melchior, was it intimidating for you in any way taking over the role? How did it affect your way of looking at and preparing for the role?

I was also wondering if you’re planning to do any more work in television or movies in the near future? Or are you just planning to stay focused on Spring Awakening for right now?

And one last question: Since you/Craig were a part of the Degrassi Movie, can you say whether or not Craig will return to Degrassi at all in season 9? Even just a small cameo?

I’m going to try and come up with a few to ask too but I’m one of those people who wouldn’t ever know what to say to someone even remotely famous meeting them for the first time, or even in a situation like this where I’m not even talking to them directly. So I would be a terrible interviewer I guess lol. But I’ll see if I can come up with something that hopefully won’t be asked by a million other people.

I am very excited about these ones!! They are really old headshots, from Jake’s Zack Files days. I’ve actually been trying to find these for a very long time!! Some of these used to be on Jake’s official website, way back when he had one in the early 2000s, but after his site was taken down I couldn’t find them anywhere. But FINALLY found them!!

Just wanted to let you all know of a couple things.

First, we now have a photo gallery moderator (I will be taking down the posting for that position shortly). Her name is Lynn. I haven’t really discussed introducing her to the rest of you yet so I’m not going to say much about her yet. And since Lynn is now the photo gallery moderator, she has helped to find some pictures related to the Degrassi Movie. Some of these images have just been added to the gallery. Make sure to check them out!

Second, I still have not heard back from the person who applied for the reporter position so that position is still open. Apply!!

I had one application but I haven’t heard back from them yet, and if I don’t hear back by this time next week, I will assume that they don’t want the position anymore. Its not a simple decision for me to choose to let someone be a part of my website becuase its kind of a personal thing and I like things to be done a certain way. I am looking for someone responsible who I can trust. And obviously they have to be a fan of Jake! So, if you are interested, please check out the staff postings page for more details and how to apply.

Note: Please remember this is not a paid position. (I’m a poor college student. I can barely afford to keep this thing up and running, letalone pay someone to help with it. I do it because I love it!) You will not be locked into any legal contracts (I don’t have the time or the money to even bother with that), so you can quit at anytime. With that said, it would be nice to give me some warning, or at least let me know you that you can’t help out anymore, or if you will be gone for a while (vacation or otherwise). Don’t leave me hanging, trying to contact you with no response from you. I missed a few parts because I’m at my grandparents right now and my Grandpa was asking me questions about the software that you can get when you order a new iMac. He has a really old one and he’s looking at getting a new one and since I’m the Mac expert in my family, I get asked all the questions.

Anyways, I’m still don’t have a lot of time for really any of my sites right now. I haven’t moved in to residence yet. We got to Hamilton on Sunday and we’re staying at my grandparents. I move in to residence in Oshawa on Wednesday. Once I’m settled in and get stuff sorted out, including work, I will be able to sit down and get some things organized.

June 2, 2009 – The producers of Spring Awakening announced today that Jake Esptein, best known for his work as “Craig” on the hit television series “Degrassi: The Next Generation,” will take over the lead role of “Melchior Gabor” in the national touring production of the Tony Award®-winning musical, beginning July 7 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.

A 22-year-old, Toronto-born actor, Epstein has already been working in theatre, film and television for more than a decade. Theatre credits include Cameron MacKintosh’s Oliver! (Artful Dodger), Dog Sees God, Cinderella, Dangerous Liaisons and Our Town. Television and Film credits include leading roles on “The Zack Files,” and “Degrassi: The Next Generation (Gemini Award)” as well as appearances on “Charlie Bartlett,” “Crown Heights,” “Quints,” “Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire,” “Paradise Falls,” “Angela’s Eyes,” “Radio Free Roscoe,” “The Eleventh Hour”and “Being Erica.” He recently graduated from the prestigious National Theatre School of Canada, where he had the opportunity to work with Canada’s leading directors and artists. I’m planning to put up some screen caps from this as well as a few other things at some point. But I’m working on the MTV screen caps right now. Charlie Brown’s Back in Town

Charlie Brown and the Peanuts crew are probably some of the most beloved comic strip characters ever.

As entertaining as the group were as kids, imagine what they’d be like as teenagers?

That’s what Dog Sees God explores.

The off-Broadway play is a parody of CB and friends and is now making its Canadian premi�re run at Toronto’s Six Degrees nightclub.

The show features a number of esteemed Canadian performers, including Jake Epstein from Degrassi: The Next Generation, Adamo Ruggiero, Mike Lobel, Paula Brancati and Tatiana Maslany.

“Fast forwarding the lives of the Peanuts’ characters… makes the whole play that much more interesting,” says Epstein, who plays the lead role of CB.

I really wish I lived in Toronto, or even just in Ontario again, so I would have a chance to go see the show. But I live in Alberta and I can’t afford to get to Toronto to see it. It sounds like such a good show. If anyone has seen it or plans to see it, please let me know what you thought of it! If you want to write kind of a short review or something of it I can post it on the site if you want. I want to get as close as I can to seeing the show lol!

Director Lezlie Wade manages the transition skilfully and, by the end, there were totally unexpected tears rolling down my face.

Jake Epstein is brilliant as CB, a bunch of nerve endings searching for a place to settle. Epstein is so beautifully open and honest that you go with him on every step of his journey.

Equally impressive is Ben Lewis as Beethoven, summoning up every odd-boy-out you’ve ever known in life, but giving him sudden depth, strength and resilience when necessary.

Adamo Ruggiero is wonderfully sly as Van and understudy Lindsey Clark was totally impressive as Van’s Sister, blowing me away with her energy and wit in her one wonderful scene.

I want to see this play so bad, especially after reading this article! But I don’t live in Toronto and I can’t afford to fly out to see it. If anyone is in the Toronto area and gets to see it and wants to write a review or submit pretty much anything about the production to this site, I will give you full credit (unless its copyrighted material to someone else, I will credit you for submitting it, but not as owner). I don’t know if you can take pictures or not during the show, most won’t let you, but if you can or if you can get anything from after the show, I would love to get something more to put on the site, something that I didn’t find online.

Exclusive photos of Degrassi cast members in LA shooting scenes for what’s rumoured to be a movie of the week to air Summer 2009…?!?!?

Stacey Farber’s Ellie looks like she’s having a Britney at Venice Beach, except she has her clothes on. Word is they’ve booked a boatload of celebrity cameos – Degrassi, a Canadian show, is actually much more popular in the US. And everywhere outside its home country. Apparently we don’t want to support our own star system?

Degrassi is the highest rated show on The N. So these photos will no doubt stir some fan board speculation about Ellie’s possible breakdown. And Adamo Ruggiero in a wet white tuxedo shirt is also stirring … ugh. Never mind. He’s an infant.

Unfortunately, because the owner of hellisbreaking.com posted these pictures as part of the Tyler Hilton fanlisting, there aren’t any caps of the scene where Dustin (Jake Epstein) and Charlie (Anton Yelchin) are talking at the party. That’s the only scene where Jake actually has shots that are focussed on him. Since, I haven’t been able to do any screen caps on my computer, except on videos in iTunes (if anyone knows how to go about doing that on Mac OS X Leopard, I would greatly appreciate your insight!) I cannot add them myself. If anyone has any other caps of Jake in Charlie Bartlett, where he is the main character in the shot, I will give you full credit if you donate them to the site.

If anyone sent any email to any email address at jakeepstein.net since I moved the domain to my new webhost (this would have been January or February, I can’t remember the exact date the transfer went through), if you did not get a response, it was likely not received. I realized tonight that I never updated my mail server on my new webhost (I use Google Apps for my email) so no emails were going through.

I only figured it out because I was trying to set up a webform and I couldn’t figure out why the emails weren’t coming through. I may have been able to send emails from jakeepstein.net but none were recieved.

I have updated the servers now, but they may not work right away. If you need to get a hold of me right away you can comment on this post. My email should be working by tomorrow.

Ok, it looks like everything is working, except one. So far the only problem I am aware of is that on sub-pages, the “Current Projects” images are not showing up. I can’t figure out why. No matter how I format the URL they will only load on the main page. Hopefully I will get it working, or maybe it will fix itself. I’m going to take a break from it and come back to it. That often seems to make a difference lol. Anyways, if anyone come across any other problems or errors, please let me know! Thanks.

Ok, I figured out the problem. It was a stupid mistake on my part. I forgot to change something in an include, and I was overwriting the wrong file. I’m fixing the issue right now.

When CB’s dog dies from rabies, CB begins to question the existence of an afterlife. His best friend is too burnt out to provide any coherent speculation; his sister is too busy searching for her own identity; his ex-girlfriend has recently been institutionalized; and his other friends are too intoxicated to provide any sort of comfort. But a chance meeting with a forgotten friend, the target of the group’s bullying, offers CB a peace of mind and sets in motion a friendship that will push teen angst to the very limits. Drug use, eating disorders, teen violence, rebellion, and sexual identification collide and careen toward an ending that’s both haunting and hopeful.
