Bitch of 40

Just a quick post! I’m heading to see Transformers 2 right away but I had to post this video. My two favourite guys in the world are in it: Jake Epstein and Kyle Riabko, obviously since its the cast of Spring Awakening.

Jake Joins Cast of Spring Awakening

For those of you who don’t already know (this is somewhat old news now), Jake will be joining the cast of Spring Awakening. Jake will be taking over the role of Melchior, currently being played by Kyle Riabko, beginning July 7, 2009 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.

June 2, 2009 – The producers of Spring Awakening announced today that Jake Esptein, best known for his work as “Craig” on the hit television series “Degrassi: The Next Generation,” will take over the lead role of “Melchior Gabor” in the national touring production of the Tony Award®-winning musical, beginning July 7 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.

A 22-year-old, Toronto-born actor, Epstein has already been working in theatre, film and television for more than a decade. Theatre credits include Cameron MacKintosh’s Oliver! (Artful Dodger), Dog Sees God, Cinderella, Dangerous Liaisons and Our Town. Television and Film credits include leading roles on “The Zack Files,” and “Degrassi: The Next Generation (Gemini Award)” as well as appearances on “Charlie Bartlett,” “Crown Heights,” “Quints,” “Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire,” “Paradise Falls,” “Angela’s Eyes,” “Radio Free Roscoe,” “The Eleventh Hour”and “Being Erica.” He recently graduated from the prestigious National Theatre School of Canada, where he had the opportunity to work with Canada’s leading directors and artists. In addition to acting, Epstein is an accomplished songwriter and musician.

Spring Awakening is based on the 1891 Frank Wedekind play of the same name, and features an electrifying score by Duncan Sheik, book and lyrics by Steven Sater, direction by Michael Mayer, and choreography by the award-winning Bill T. Jones. The production won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical (2007).

Set against the backdrop of a repressive and provincial late 19th century Germany, Spring Awakening tells the timeless story of adolescent self-discovery and budding sexuality as seen through the eyes of three teenagers. Haunting and provocative, Spring Awakening celebrates an unforgettable journey from youth to adulthood with a power, a poignancy and a passion you will never forget.

Staff Position Posted

The position for reporter on the site has now officially been posted. For more information, click here.

Also, the position for Photo Gallery Moderator has been updated. For more information on this position, click here.

Lack of Updates

Hey guys,

I apologize for not updating lately. I’ve been really busy. My family is getting ready to move soon and I’ve been kind of stressed out. I’ve been thinking I might have to put up a position for someone to help out with some stuff on the site. I’ve been hesitant to do so though since the last time I did this it did not turn out so well. This means that if I do post a new position for the site, I will be much more picky than last time. I will let you know when the position will be available.

So if you are interested, please be prepared to wow me. Please, do not email me asking for the position until I officially post it. If you do, I will ignore your application. Thanks.

Video of Jake on MTV

Last night Jake was on the MTV Aftershow with Adamo Ruggiero, Paula Brancati, and Siobhan Murphy. In addition to talking about Zac Efron and The Hills, they talked about their play, Dog Sees God. Here’s a video of the show:

I’m planning to put up some screen caps from this as well as a few other things at some point. But I’m working on the MTV screen caps right now. I also have a bunch of pictures sitting in a folder on my desktop that I haven’t gotten around to adding, so I will hopefully be adding those soon as well, I just need to sort through them a little bit. I’ve been busy with work and stuff last so I didn’t had much time. I have a little more time this week, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to use all of it for these pictures, but I’ll try. :)

Two New Articles

I’ve posted two new articles about Dog Sees God to the Press section of the site:

Doggone Good

Wanna hear Charlie Brown grouse about smoking weed and getting head? The off-Broadway hit Dog Sees God (receiving its Canadian premiere, and featuring cast members from Degrassi: The Next Generation, and Instant Star) imagines the characters of Charles Schultz’s classic comic strip Peanuts as troubled adolescents dealing with a seemingly-endless parade of hot-button issues.

Charlie Brown’s Back in Town

Charlie Brown and the Peanuts crew are probably some of the most beloved comic strip characters ever.

As entertaining as the group were as kids, imagine what they’d be like as teenagers?

That’s what Dog Sees God explores.

The off-Broadway play is a parody of CB and friends and is now making its Canadian premire run at Toronto’s Six Degrees nightclub.

The show features a number of esteemed Canadian performers, including Jake Epstein from Degrassi: The Next Generation, Adamo Ruggiero, Mike Lobel, Paula Brancati and Tatiana Maslany.

“Fast forwarding the lives of the Peanuts’ characters… makes the whole play that much more interesting,” says Epstein, who plays the lead role of CB.

Dog Sees God Show Dates Extended

Just to let you all know, the Toronto Production of Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead has been extended. The show is now playing until April 18, rather than April 4th.

I really wish I lived in Toronto, or even just in Ontario again, so I would have a chance to go see the show. But I live in Alberta and I can’t afford to get to Toronto to see it. It sounds like such a good show. If anyone has seen it or plans to see it, please let me know what you thought of it! If you want to write kind of a short review or something of it I can post it on the site if you want. I want to get as close as I can to seeing the show lol!

Dog Sees God mentioned on tonight’s E-Talk

Dog Sees God was just mentioned on tonight’s episode of E-Talk. Jake wasn’t mentioned, but I thought you might be interested anyway. I’ll get you a link if CTV posts video of that segment of the show.

Quirky show is as lovable as Snoopy – TheStar.com

I’ve added another article about Dog Sees God to the press section of the site. Here’s some of the article from TheStar.com.

Director Lezlie Wade manages the transition skilfully and, by the end, there were totally unexpected tears rolling down my face.

Jake Epstein is brilliant as CB, a bunch of nerve endings searching for a place to settle. Epstein is so beautifully open and honest that you go with him on every step of his journey.

Equally impressive is Ben Lewis as Beethoven, summoning up every odd-boy-out you’ve ever known in life, but giving him sudden depth, strength and resilience when necessary.

Adamo Ruggiero is wonderfully sly as Van and understudy Lindsey Clark was totally impressive as Van’s Sister, blowing me away with her energy and wit in her one wonderful scene.

You can read the full article here.

I want to see this play so bad, especially after reading this article! But I don’t live in Toronto and I can’t afford to fly out to see it. If anyone is in the Toronto area and gets to see it and wants to write a review or submit pretty much anything about the production to this site, I will give you full credit (unless its copyrighted material to someone else, I will credit you for submitting it, but not as owner). I don’t know if you can take pictures or not during the show, most won’t let you, but if you can or if you can get anything from after the show, I would love to get something more to put on the site, something that I didn’t find online.

I also added another article from broadwayworld.com.

We Now Have a Tagboard!

After much diliberation, I decided to add a tagboard to the site. I’m not the biggest fan of them but I don’t hate them. They’re kind of an impersonal way to contact people, which is part of my dislike for them. That being said, I decided to add one because I have used them in the past and I know that people really like them, and they are especially popular on fansites. They are handy for fans to chat with each other, which I know is enjoyed by many. So, enjoy the Tagboard! (Scroll down, its at the bottom of the sidebar)

Added: New Article and New Video

A video promo for Dog Sees God was added to YouTube by thetvaddict. Check out the video here.

I’ve also added an article to the press section: Former Degrassi star Jake Epstein moves into more exploratory realm.

Degrassi in Hollywood

Added a couple more pictures.

deg-2-11dec08 deg-3-11dec08

Here’s the article that goes along with the pics.

Exclusive photos of Degrassi cast members in LA shooting scenes for what’s rumoured to be a movie of the week to air Summer 2009…?!?!?

Stacey Farber’s Ellie looks like she’s having a Britney at Venice Beach, except she has her clothes on. Word is they’ve booked a boatload of celebrity cameos – Degrassi, a Canadian show, is actually much more popular in the US. And everywhere outside its home country. Apparently we don’t want to support our own star system?

Degrassi is the highest rated show on The N. So these photos will no doubt stir some fan board speculation about Ellie’s possible breakdown. And Adamo Ruggiero in a wet white tuxedo shirt is also stirring … ugh. Never mind. He’s an infant.

Charlie Bartlett Screen Caps

I’ve added some screen caps of Jake in Charlie Bartlett. Credit to hellisbreaking.com for these images.

charlie_bartlett_cap_01 charlie_bartlett_cap_02 charlie_bartlett_cap_03
charlie_bartlett_cap_04 charlie_bartlett_cap_05 charlie_bartlett_cap_06
charlie_bartlett_cap_07 charlie_bartlett_cap_08 charlie_bartlett_cap_09

Unfortunately, because the owner of hellisbreaking.com posted these pictures as part of the Tyler Hilton fanlisting, there aren’t any caps of the scene where Dustin (Jake Epstein) and Charlie (Anton Yelchin) are talking at the party. That’s the only scene where Jake actually has shots that are focussed on him. Since, I haven’t been able to do any screen caps on my computer, except on videos in iTunes (if anyone knows how to go about doing that on Mac OS X Leopard, I would greatly appreciate your insight!) I cannot add them myself. If anyone has any other caps of Jake in Charlie Bartlett, where he is the main character in the shot, I will give you full credit if you donate them to the site.

Anyways, enjoy the caps that are currently uploaded to the gallery!

New Old Photos

A bunch of older photos of Jake have just been added to the image gallery. I would have written this post sooner, since I uploaded these files earlier today, but I was watching the Oscars. Anyways, here’s the albums that have been added/updated:
